CMP Training Workshops
A primary activity of the Animal Care and Use Training Program is provision of workshops on common animal procedures. We invite faculty, staff, and graduate students involved with animal care and use to attend these workshops. Each workshop will provide hands-on training on acceptable and humane methods for basic techniques commonly used in biomedical research. Workshops offered include:
- Asepsis and Aseptic Techniques
- Aseptic Techniques With Rodent Survival Surgery
- Basic Techniques With Small Ruminants
- Basic Techniques With Swine
- Inhalation Anesthesia With Rodents
- Mice: Basic Handling and Techniques
- Rabbits: Basic Handling and Techniques
- Rats: Basic Handling and Techniques
- Non-surgical Catheterization Techniques
- Suturing: Materials, Patterns and Techniques
- Working With Immunodeficient Rodents
Workshops for basic handling & techniques training with selected species are generally scheduled on a weekly basis. All other workshops are scheduled on an "As Needed / When Available" basis. Workshop space is limited; individuals interested in attending one of our training workshops must first request training and will then be assigned to a specific workshop. We also have a new web-based "LATA" training program consisting of online animal care and use training modules. All users are highly encouraged to participate in our LATA Training Program (free of charge). Specific online LATA training modules are required to be completed by an individual before they will be able to attend certain CMP workshops.
