Non-Surgical Catheterization Techniques
Many research projects and teaching protocols require the use of short-term, non-surgically-implanted catheters. Techniques associated with percutaneous catheter insertion can be easily learned with hands-on training. Participants in this workshop will be instructed on:
- Selecting the appropriate catheter for the procedure and species of animal
- Aseptic techniques for insertion of and securing the catheters
- Care and maintenance of the catheters after they have been placed percutaneously
